1. d4 d5 2. e3 Nf6 3. f4 (3. Bd3 {this instead next time.})Ne4?! {I wasn't sure what to make of this except that it is counter to principle. I decided I would calmly develop shuffling my move order a bit to contest the square.} 4. Bd3 f5 {I think this is the first time I've seen black put a pawn on f1 in this opening. It blocked up my light square bishop throughout, but also allowed the strong knight position that arises later.} 5. Nd2 Nc6 6. Ngf3 e6 7. O-O Bb4 8. c3 {I was beginning to wonder when I would find time to play c3. Bb4 gives me that extra support and also strengthens my control of the dark squares on the king side. This bishop is better posted on d6 or e7} Ba5 9. Ng5 {threatening 10. Qh5+} O-O 10. Ndf3 Nf6 11. b4 Bb6 12. b5 Na5 {The idea is to force the knight to abandon protection of e5.} 13. Ne5 {...and the knight has found his outpost. From here, I'm looking for a way to play Qd5 and/or Rh3} h6 14. Ba3 c5 (14.. hxg5 15. Bxf8 Qxf8 16. fxg5 {If the knight flees then Qd5.})
15. Rf3 (15. bxc6 {I think given the chance, I would play this move} 15.. bxc6 (15.. Nxc6) 16. Bxf8) Ng4 (15.. hxg5 16. fxg5 Nh7 (16.. Nd7 g6 {...and white has good attacking chances. Black has, perhaps, Qf6 or Nxe5.}) 17. Rh3 Qe8 18. Rxh7 Kxh7 19. g6+ Kg8 20. Qh5 {threatening mate on h7} Rf7 (20.. Qxg6 21. Nxg6) 21. gxf7+) 16. Rh3 c4? 17. Bxf8 Qxf8 18. Be2 Bd8 19. Bxg4 fxg4 (19.. Bxg5 20. fxg5 fxg4 21. Qxg4 {the second rook can come to f1 if needed, and the attack is overwhelming.}) 20. Qxg4 Qe8 21. Rxh6! Qxb5? {but I can't suggest something better.} 22. Rh8+! Kxh8 23. Qh5+ Kg8 24. Qf7+ Kh8 25. Ng6#
